I got my first Land Rover
Sung to the the tune of 'Summer of '69' by Bryan Adams
- Tim Ansell
I got my first Land Rover
Bought it from a friend of mine
Crashed it ‘cos the brakes weren’t bled
It was a leaf sprung 109
Me and some guys from work
Had a team and we tried real hard
Gearbox quit and axles got buried
I shoulda known we'd never get far
Oh when I look back now
The desert seemed to last forever
And if I had the fuel
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
Ain't no use in complainin'
When you got a race to run
Spent my evenin's down at the bivouac
That's where I have my fun
Smellin’ like a burned out clutch
I thought that it would last forever
New replacement cost so much
I bought it on the never never
Those were the best days of my life
Back in my leaf sprung 109
Man we were killin' time
We were young and winchless
We needed to unwind
I guess Rovers can last forever - forever,
And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes when I drive that old Rover
I think ‘bout all the bits gone wrong
Tryin to fix a burned out clutch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh and when you squeezed my crutch
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Back in my leaf spring 109
